24th May 2019
I am writing to inform you of the changes to the academy’s uniform that will come into effect from September 2019.
All students in KS3 from September 2019 (Years 7, 8 and 9) will be expected to wear the Delta Laurel Academy uniform. This consists of a tie, blazer, skirt/trousers all of which have the Delta logo embroidered onto them. For current Years 9 and 10 students they are not expected to wear the new Delta uniform from September. They can remain in the current Mexborough uniform until such time their uniform needs replacing. All students will be issued with a Delta tie and will be expected to wear this as from September 2019 including KS4. If your child does require a new blazer, skirt or trousers in the future it must be the Delta uniform.
May I take this opportunity to clarify our guidance around standards of uniform here at The Laurel Academy. Students are not permitted to wear trainers of any form for school. All students must wear leather school shoes. Boots or heels are not permitted. Piercings and jewellery of any kind are also not permitted. Exceptions will be made for medical identification jewellery. Make up must be subtle. False nails, nail varnish, false eye lashes and fake tan are not permitted. Tight fitted trousers, leggings and black jeans are not permitted as well as fitted, lycra skirts. All skirts must be tailored and at an appropriate length which is just above the knee. Clarification of what is acceptable can be accessed in your child’s planner and on our website.
The Mexborough PE kit at this stage is still allowed and will be gradually phased out over time. If however you require to purchase more PE kit this will have to be ordered from our Delta uniform supplier which is https://www.sptuniforms.co.uk/product-category/the-laurel-academy/ this link can be accessed via our website. The PE kit requirements from September 2019 are as follows:
Short-sleeved PE polo shirt
Long-sleeved sports top
PE trainers to change into
Football boots (Boys)
¼ zip PE top (worn at the discretion of the teacher)
Tracksuit bottoms (worn at the discretion of the teacher)
If you require new items of uniform, SPT Uniforms will be hosting 3 ‘pop up’ shops where you can purchase and/or try on items of uniform and PE kit. You can pay for the uniform via Apple Pay, card and cash. SPT Uniforms do not accept cheques. The date and times for the pop up shops are as follows:

23rd July 2019 – 10:00am – 3:00pm

If you have any questions regarding uniform please do not hesitate to contact myself or your child’s Year Leader to discuss the matter.
