Year 11 - Leaving Information

It will be sad to see our Year 11's go, please see below the letter that has been sent out to all parents/carers today:

26th May 2021

Dear Parents/Carers,

I am writing to outline the arrangements we are implementing for our Year 11 students to support them during their final weeks at The Laurel Academy. Our plan is as follows:

  • Students will be required to attend the Academy in full uniform up to and including Monday 7th June 2021. On Monday 7th June, students will be required to attend the Academy at 09:00 and arrive at the main entrance for a final assembly that will last approximately 1 hour. Please note that students not attending in the correct uniform will be turned away. This will give students the opportunity to say goodbye to fellow students and staff, shirt sign and take pictures.   We will also be distributing tickets for our Year 11 Celebration event which is scheduled for Thursday 24th June 4pm – 7pm subject to behaviour and attendance.
  • Work will still be available on Teams for students wishing to continue their studies in readiness for their next stage in education.
  • During the period Monday 7th – 16th June, students will be required to attend the Academy every day if there is missing work from their assessment portfolio which is required as evidence for determining teacher assessed grades this summer. We will contact parents/carers individually if your son/daughter is required to attend, however all students must ensure that they are available during this period if required.
  • Students can request face to face careers support via Mrs Walker, Y11 Learning Manger: WalkerK10@laurelacademy.org.uk

As stated above for our Year 11 celebration will be held on the school field. Please be aware that this is subject to government restrictions being lifted as planned on 21st June 2021 and that we can hold the event safely in line with national guidelines.

Finally, I would like to say how proud I am of our Year 11 students. They have worked hard throughout, showing resilience and a real determination to succeed during challenging circumstances. I would also like to thank you all for your ongoing support and I look forward to seeing students again on results day which this year is on Thursday 12th August 2021 - further details will be sent out separately.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Academy.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Brooke
Principal
